Ration cards are an official document or we can say ID Proof which is issued by state governments in India to the citizens that are eligible to purchase subsidized food grain from the Public Distribution System (under the National Food Security Act) NFSA. Under the National Food Security Act, all state governments in India have to identify people that are eligible for purchasing subsidized food grain from the Public Distribution System and provide them with ration cards.

Purpose of Assam BPL Ration Card:-
Ration card is considered to be an essential document in India that used for identity proof and address verification. Ration card also often used as an identification proof while applying for income certificate, PAN card, domicile certificate, drivers license, etc.
Assam BPL LIST:-
The total number of poor peoples belonging to Below Poverty Line (BPL), is an economic benchmark in India stands at about 276 million (27.6 Crore) as per the official data. These BPL households needs government facilities to make their living and receive the basic lifestyle facilities such as healthcare, food, education & more.
The central and state governments provides these benefits through various social welfare schemes especially created for the BPL families.
At present, the selection of beneficiaries under many central government schemes launched by Narendra Modi Government in 2018 and earlier is being done from the list of BPL people. Some of these schemes only meant for the BPL families includes Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana.
People belonging to BPL households are concerned about their inclusion as beneficiary under these schemes. The complete state wise list of BPL families can be viewed on the official websites of state government departments on a website developed by NIC (National Informatics Center).
How to check BPL list
1. In NREGA Scheme
Only BPL households are included in this scheme, so the BPL list can be checked by looking at the list of NAREGA beneficiaries at its official website.
2. All India BPL List
Here candidates can select the Gram Panchayat, Tehsil / Taluk, District, and State.
Next list type is to be selected either it is Auto Inclusion / Deprivation or Auto Exclusion or others along with the number of rows to get displayed and then click the “Submit” button.
Afterwards, the complete BPL List with name, gender, age, category, father’s name, total members, deprivation code and count will appear ON : ALL INDIA BPL LIST. Finally, the candidates can manually search their names in the Assam Gram Panchayat list.
In case any person belonging to BPL category and is able to locate his name then person is eligible to avail benefits of various govt. schemes. In case any person finds multiple entries having same name, match it with the address, name of parents and other details.

BPL is only for those persons whose basic requirements are not completed. It provided grains , spices etc to them for their survival.
Eligibility Criteria for Assam BPL:-
There are no rules that can be defined as eligibility criteria for obtaining a BPL card in India. There are some parameters that are considered for declaring a family as BPL in rural areas and in urban area eg:-

- -literacy etc.
BENEFITS of ASSAM BPL
IN RECENT ASSAM GOVERNMENT will bear educational expenses of students belonging to below poverty line (BPL) families under a new scheme to be launched soon, said Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
Gogoi said in a statement under the new scheme students from BPL families securing at least second division in board and council examinations would be entitled to get all educational.
Through the PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) Scheme , government promises to pay all poor farmers (small and marginal farmers having lands up to 2 hectares) Rs 6,000 each every year in 3 installments through Direct Bank Transfer. It would benefit to around 14.5 crore farmers all over India.
The Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was launched by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi , to distribute 50 million LPG connections to women of BPL families.
