The Delhi government on Friday announced its electric vehicles (EVs) policy aimed at boosting the adaptation of cleaner vehicles in the national capital after the centre’s EV push did not yield results as expected.
The three year policy aims to make EVs account for the new vehicles registered in the capital by 2024. EV buyers will benefit from purchase incentives, scrapping benefits on older vehicles, interests subvention on loan and waiver of road tax and registration.

Chief Minister Arvind kejriwal on Friday announces the Delhi electric vehicle policy under which his government will waive registration fee and road tax, and provide incentives of up to RS 1.5 lakh for new electric cars in the national capital.
Aim of Delhi electric vehicle policy
The aim behind Delhi electric vehicle policy is to generate employment to give a boost to Delhi economy and reduce pollution level in the national capital, “CM Arvind kejriwal”
The new EV policy as progressive and the policy also aim to constitute 25% electric vehicles by 2024, which is currently just 0.29% in the national capital. Under the policy, Delhi government will gave incentive of up to RS 30,000 for two wheelers, autos, e-rickshaws while for cars, and it will provide an incentive of up to RS 1.5 lakh.
